Recharger is the Power SAVER Team’s friendly and faithful
mutt friend. He is always there to remind the Power SAVER Team
about the safe way to handle hydro electricity.
(Translated
from friendly and faithful mutt language.)
Electricity
is safe when it’s properly used, but it can be dangerous if
we don’t use it wisely.
REMEMBER THESE SAFETY RULES:
If you see
a wire hanging from a pole, stay away from it. Have an adult call
Chatham-Kent Hydro at (519) 352-6300.
A green metal
box or other equipment with a red hazard sign on it means there
is high voltage inside. You could be electrocuted if you open
the box or poke anything into it.
Never climb
a hydro pole or a tree which is growing near power lines. Electric
currents can travel down a tree and make it dangerous.
Don’t
pry toast from a plugged-in toaster. Pull the plug first.
Never fly
kites or remote-controlled airplanes near power lines.
Water and
electricity don’t mix! Keep radios, hair dryers and other
electrical devices away from sinks, bath tubs and swimming pools.
Always pull
an electric cord out by the plug. A damaged cord could shock you!
